Staying up way too late playing video games, watching too much tv, eating junk food all of the time, not bathing on a regular basis, not dressing properly for the occasion, weather, climate, or temperature, etc. Also, not doing homework or studying for school, doing drugs/alcohol of any kind, overeating or undereating, not taking care of yourself (Mind, Body, and Spirit), not engaging in things you actually could or want to achieve, and the only one who’s keeping you from achieving those goals is none other than yourself. Only you can truly change yourself for the better, you can’t always rely on others to always be there for you to lean/depend on.

I think Earth and Water signs are the most prone to neglecting themselves due to them being negative, feminine signs. Then again..Fire signs tend to push themselves too hard when it comes to almost anything and Air signs over-think stuff and cause their brains to “tweak out”, which in large quantities is actually very hazardous to your health.

I think a Moon sign (How you are on the inside) in an Earth or Water sign tends to be the most prone to negative-type feelings. Same thing with Venus or Mars which tend to include your feelings towards certain circumstances or people, which can affect the way your basic outlook is.

I will admit I have a Taurus Moon (Lazy, slow, too serious, etc), Venus & Mars both in Scorpio (Manipulative, sly, power seekers, etc), Sun and Mercury in Libra (Unsteady, indecisive, neat freak, etc), and Rising in Sagittarius which makes me come off as being careless and childish in the wrongest ways so..

For the most part though, Water signs in most placements tend to have the worst outlook towards their health and appearance, compared to any other sign. I say this because they tend to be the moodiest signs, being feminine and all so. Which is actually pretty understanding from my point of view. I have Scorpio, a water sign, in both my Venus and Mars placements, and then Taurus, an earth sign, under my Mood placement. My feelings can actually be pretty delicate at times I just don’t show them very well. If you know what I mean anyway.

Video games and health issues?I’m a game addict and i get dizzy at times, my brain gets pains, i forget get what im doing randomly at times, and im wondering if this all because of video games and how i can help this, even when im not playing i dont feel as bad but the same things happen, i dont really eat much when im playing games oh yea and i dont have no diseases.

I hate when people blame everything on video games. Yes, there are exceptions, but you have to keep in mind most of the time…it is the people.

Not all video games cause health issues. Such as Dance-Dance Revolution. My friend and I go to the arcade together frequently and workout with it.

You can impair your vision if you’re staring at the screen too much. Just like the PC screen. (MMOs or TV)

There have been studies where researchers have found that a person who plays shooter games has a tendency to pick a certain thing out faster and more easily than someone who doesn’t. Their reaction time was a bit faster as well. Other than that, they’re no good for your health.

You defiantly need to take a break! :P.

History – games like Civilization give a better understanding of history, politics, economies Strategy – Conserving health, planning attacks, solving puzzles – all healthy activities to flex his mental muscles Logic – Advances in AIl results in realistic interactions which demands realistic decision making. Logical steps are needed to solve puzzles, navigate worlds, and find the missing pieces. Competition – Family competition helps our family bond. This also teaches him humility – how to be a good loser, and how if at first you don’t succeed, try again. Coordination – Games like Eye toy gets your kid off the couch and moving around, while still allowing the kids to have fun. Go outside and play? No. Stay inside and jump and dance and spin? Sure! I think video games are way for a kid to explore virtual worlds which inspires imagination and creativity. They are proud of virtual achievements. These games are far more stimulating than letting a child’s mind rot in front of a tv.

All things in moderation, though. Also, nothing more than your basic animated violence is allowed in our house.

Why is there such a stigma on being a gamer?

For example: people think that we are wasting our time, have no lives, need to get girlfriends, complete nerds etc and so on. What is so bad about being a gamer? Why is it that movies are givin a free pass but people give you shame for enjoying the best video game? I had people tell me I am wasting my time playing video games yet hours of watching film is ok. This is something that has been happening for years and will continue to happen until the day we die. The greatest things in life are what's most made fun of or rejected by society. People who aren't gamers just don't understand.

Many people in today's society find playing games and paying for them a waste of time and money. But, why? Because ONE gamer out of 100 is the type who literally won't leave the game for weeks at a time? We aren't all like this. But just like with everything else, it only takes one bad apple to deem the whole tree ruined. But playing games are not a waste of time to those who enjoy it. In fact, it helps develop hand-eye coordination and self control. Also, if the person truly enjoys the game, then it will release happy chemicals in the brain. This is a hobby just like any other. As for the money, yes it is very true that games can be costly. But, so is going to the movies, buying movies, buying CDs, buying clothes, etc. These are all things people enjoy and they don't see it as a waste of money, yet buying a game is? Makes no sense. But it's all in the eye of the beholder. An artist would invest $100s of dollars in supplies that a football player may seem as a waste of money. So to most of society games are a waste of money but to the actual gaming community it definitely isn't. And i don't know about you, but I would much rather spend my time and money on video games than drugs or alcohol. For some reason buying alcohol and going to a bar and wasting an easy $80 on drinks for a few hours of "fun" is ok, but don't dare buy a $50 video game that will last much longer!!!

What I've come across during my many many years as being a gamer is that people believe we are all dorks, geeks, dweebs, and losers who will never get laid. This is incredibly untrue. I am a 22 year old WOMAN, I've been a gamer since I got my first Nintendo in 1997, and I don't regret any time or money I spent on games. Why? Because I graduated with honors in high school, I had the best relationships with friends and dating, I never once in my life tried drugs, and I don't fit in with the stereotype, which made me determined to change people's thoughts about gamers. I'm that girl who wears dresses everyday, squeals over new shoes, spends time doing my hair and makeup, has a lot of fiends, an yet I play world of warcraft, diablo, eve, etc…. While I'm playing wow I will do my hair and makeup so I can go out for the night. In other words, I'm a gamer with a life, just like most other gamers. But society doesn't look past that one gamer who refuses to get off the game.

Oh and I absolutely love the stereotype that gamers don't get laid when in fact gamers are the most sexually active teenagers and young adults. Every gamer I've ever met – and I've met a lot – were in amazing relationships and very sexually active. If anything, it's always been the cheerleaders and jocks who stay virgins til college. This stereotype comes from the fact that gamers exclude themselves from other cliques. They like to be left alone and they like that others don't know anything about them. They usually don't care to exploit themselves or their personal lives just to make a point to another. It's like gamers have their own secret community and they can usually spot another gamer from a mile away. I really enjoy this feature about being gamer!!! Oh, and not to mention the fact that I met my boyfriend off of world of Warcraft years ago. We are still going strong and planning our wedding. So society can shove it up their stereotypical ass!

And when it comes down to it, people who play games are smarter and more intellectual than those who would rather passively sit there and watch a movie. At least with a game you are thinking, you are socializing (even if it's online) you are doing something that can help you in the future because there are plenty of jobs in today's world that requires knowing how to use a computer. My 8 year old niece has been playing games with me for a year now and ever since she started, her attention span and grades in school have both gotten better!

Sorry for the very long reply but this has always been a pet peve of mine. Plain and simple, people don't like what they don't understand.

I don't freaking get it…Why are we investing in pointless 'companies' that are basically turning your brain into mush. It is a waste of investing, why not more into research..who cares if gaming is 'profitable' .

I guess it is a matter of 'free will' in a capitalistic paradigm. Investors *do* care about profit or return on their investment. There is high demand for video games (and I agree with your viewpoint that they are sort of meaningless, but many people are basically addicted to them. Did you play video games as a child? I was a teen in the 1970s, and we played video games and pinball, etc. In arcades. Now that I'm 48, I personally have found interest in other things and rarely play games. Perhaps an occasional online game of whatever, but I don't have any video game console like xbox.)

What research would you like people to 'invest in' ?

A complete mirror to the 'investment' in (violent) video games is how 'adults' and 'governments' 'invest' in wars. Why is that? Are humans just 'hooked' on violence and killing? The USA has been in Iraq and Afghanistan for over a decade now? For what?

To feed the military-industrial complex *trillions* of dollars. That's where the 'research' is being done ~ developing the latest 'awesome' weapon.

The brilliant governments of the world also like nuclear power plants. Too bad they often have 'accidents' and spill radioactive particles all over the globe. Hey, it's just 'research'.

GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Just another 'adult' investment and 'research'.

The entire human experience is a research project.

The famous physicist Stephen Hawking recently said that humanity will not be able to survive on this planet for very much longer. It's toxic. Species are going extinct at increasing rates.

His view is that we need (like right now) to fund space exploration research and start getting people to another planet.

The thing is though … Would we just ruin that planet also?

But i like the ds but it doesn't have many functions and the psp has music and games. But would it be worth it if i have to sell my ds to get one? Tell me why you chose the ds or psp and tell me all the functions.

I'll give some advice but please be advised I'm speaking on a non-biased level but on a more informative level. I don't necessarily have a favourite from PSP to DS but want to provide you with the best information possible to help you make your own decision.

PSP doesn't have very many games. You will notice that most games are extremely garbage and good games are few and far between to find. The PSP is good if you want to put music, pictures and video clips on your PSP because the screen is gorgeous…. But… Memory cards are -extremely- expensive if you want to do that. A typical PSP comes with a 1GB card and if you actually want to store music and videos on that.. Good luck because you won't get much on it. A decent size memory card (probably 8GB) is around $150 which is almost the cost of the PSP to begin with! If you have an iPod, you're already doing all that anyway.

So to break it down for you, here are some PROS about the PSP:
-All around multimedia center is nice to have if you don't have an iPod
-Built- in WiFi and built in web browser
-Some fun exclusives like Secret Agent Clank, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, Loco Roco, Socom Fireteam, FF Tactics, Lumines and Wipeout Pure.
-Analog stick
-mini-USB port for easy connection to PC
-PS2 graphics, screen is huge 16:9 widescreen
-component cables bought extra can hook your PSP up to your TV
-online play is free and easy to get into.

Some CONS about the PSP:
– memory cards are expensive and not worth it if you have an iPod that does all of that.
-menu screen/downloading to your PSP can be difficult to maneuver around if you aren't very tech savvy.
– not many games to begin with, not many games releasing in the future; games are also generally geared towards a pre-teen – mid-teen audience.
– Need to use specific PSP headphones.. You can't use any random headphones because the jack is too small. Say goodbye to your 100 dollar Bose headset.
– Load times are -terrible-, and during games, you hear a lot of crackling when your games are loading from the disc spinning in your PSP
-Battery power is terrible, not as good as the DS or GBA
-Use of UMD's (PSP Movies which are discontinued) take up 1.8GB's on your memory card (and 2GB cards are about 45 dollars!)
-Very fragile, easy to get scratched up and drop and awkward to carry around because of size.
-Online can be very slow even connected to a powerful highspeed wireless connection.

Now the DS. The DS is very neat. It has an extremely big selection of games that tailor to every type of audience. There are simple jump and collect type games (Mario brothers, Mario Party, Kirby) that are easy for anyone to pick up (kids or adults), there are child learning games (Smart Boy, Smart Girl), there are brain exercise games for mid-teens to adults/seniors (Brain Age 1/2, Personal Math Trainer, Flash Focus), there are shooting/actions for the more advanced gamer (Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed). There is a lot more games for the DS that are for every audience and might be a better choice for that reason alone.

Pros about the DS:
-has dual screens, one being a touch screen that works like a mouse and is -very- innovative and fun to use on most DS games (Mario Party)
-NO MEMORY CARDS! All game saves are stored on the cartridges themselves and you don't have to worry about spending all kinds of crazy money.
– Menu screen is simple, put the game in and play.
-Backwards compatibility, can play GBA games
– many different colours
-Battery life is excellent, 10 hours of gameplay and even longer if you turn down the brightness.
-Can use any headphones.
-Guitar Hero on Tour for your DS
– Pausing a game is as easy as just folding down your DS at any time.
– Zero load times
– Price of the DS is quite low (129.99 in Canada) and going even lower.
– New DS is releasing near the end of this year (Dsi), but most games will still be supported on the original DS.
-Online play locally is fun as only one person needs the game for multiple people to play.
– Built in Wi-Fi,
– DS is very sleek and small enough to fit in a pocket without risking damaging the screen
– Very fun 'pick up and play' DS games: Phoenix Wright series, Castlevania, Cooking Mama, Trauma Center, New Super Mario Brothers, MarioKart, Nintendogs, Korg-10 Synth, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Galaxy Wars and Bing Bang Mini

Cons about the DS:
-No multimedia support; you cannot store pictures, music or movies on your DS (but once again, if you have an iPod, there's no point). [well there is a way but it's useless and expensive, like 40 dollars]
-Graphics are very weak compared to the PSP.
– Touch screen can get scratched up after a few months.
– Cartridges can be quite expensive
– Online play requires friend codes if you want to talk to anyone.
– Getting back to menu screen is annoying to change games, requiring you to turn off your DS and turn it back on.

Now, after all that.. Here is my personal opinion – Get a DS, better and more games and will not be going obsolete any time soon (even with the new DSi coming out nearing the end of the year). If you want all around multimedia entertainment, get an iPod touch, it starts around 230 dollars for an 8gb and you will get a lot more use out of it. PSP is 170 + 150 dollars for an 8GB card and does not have very many games that are even worth buying it for.

[display_name id=”1″]Personally, I’m biased towards martial arts. It teaches discipline, creativity, and the muscle you build from practice will be functional muscle.

Comparatively, while Bodybuilding teaches a bit of discipline [You have to keep to the program, or you get nothing] it is otherwise pretty worthless except as a tool to look good.

And before someone argues that bodybuilding makes you strong- That’s incorrect. Even professional bodybuilders admit that the methods they use to build muscle don’t give you any real improvement in your athletic ability, they just induce hypertrophy in the large, visible muscle groups. To quote Milos Sarcev, a famous bodybuilder- “We are not athletes. We are athletic mannequins.”

Overall, if you want to improve your health and fitness, Martial Arts is a superior method.

The original Latin quote from the poet Juvenal is also still commonly used nowadays: “mens sana in corpore sano.” It’s often cited as a call for being a well-rounded person or providing education for both the mind and the body, or to recognize the link between physical and mental well-being.

Nowadays we think of a healthy mind as a psychological state – mental health as opposed to mental illness and other modern ills such as addiction. You can connect physical fitness and mental health in these terms as well, but cautiously – think of the pro athletes who depend on drugs.

My impression from seeing these phrases used in older English literature is that in past centuries the perception of a healthy mind was more about virtue: not being lazy, selfish, gluttonous, cowardly, and so on. Even though we may now see the link between mind and body differently than those writers did, we can still say that physical activity is one part of keeping our minds confident, alert, and active.

How can I become more Spiritual/ have a healthy mind etc.?I’ve been thinking lately,

Ignore your body, and it will deteriorate. Ignore the mind and it will also deteriorate. You need to have balance in everthing you do.

To be healthy in mind or to be healthy in body, which is better?You may readily answer both but in today,s world one is simply confused. The churches teaches you to do good things which only come from a healthy mind. Outside the churches, politicians, the entertaiment world, business colleagues, friends and so many people sort of play down your honesty, good naturedness and put more emphasis on how you look. You may be hurt inside, nobody seem to care in as much you cover that with a veneer of good dressing. Why so much emphasis on outward looks than the inner person today?

More politically correct, too.
Your question goes deeper, though. I think it has more to do with our present culture than any absolute right or wrong. Today, it is about looks, etc., because people who don’t know you, treat you better based on the only thing they see. It’s harder to really know anyone these days, so we learn to survive by exploiting the superficial.
Follow your heart, and as long as you’re healthy and practice good hygiene, concentrate on the inner life. It will eventually show to the right people. You have what it takes.

At the moment my brain is kinda of like a cloud. Out of control & scattered?My question is how do I compress this huge way of thinking into a solid sphere. My mind only keeps getting enhanced in the daily stuff I do because I take everything as a competition. I cant seem to finish my sentences because I studder at times. Its not a studdering problem I just realize that my mind is not at on an even place with my vocal reaction time. An example would be “I have capitalism class in the morning.” I would slur it and instead I would say “I have calssitalism in th-” I wouldn’t finish the sentence knowing I mispronounced. These past couple days I have been able to remember my dreams so clearly that in my dream I actually believe its real to the point where I’m actually in my bedroom looking out of my curtain & seeing what was”The end of the world.” At times I’ll get up & through the day I’ll remember my dreams but sometimes theres a kickstart. If something happens during my day that has something to do with one of my dreams I just get flooded with all my dreams & enjoy it to be quiet honest. So basically to clarify my question….

How does one compress the mind to think more solidily

*When I’m bored I do multiplication like 78×63. I dont use paper

Vitamin E is POSSIBLY UNSAFE if taken in high doses. If you have a condition such as heart disease or diabetes, don’t take doses of 400 IU/day or more. Some research suggests that high doses might increase the chance of death and possibly cause other serious side effects. The higher the dose, the greater the risk of serious side effects.

There is some concern that vitamin E might increase the chance of having a serious stroke called hemorrhagic stroke, which is bleeding into the brain. Some research shows that taking vitamin E in doses of 300-800 IU each day might increase the chance of this kind of stroke by 22%. However, in contrast, vitamin E might decrease the chance of having a less severe stroke called an ischemic stroke.

What is wrong with my body?

I used to be in perfect health. YMCA and power walking. I am 54. In 2003 I woke up and the left half of my body was numb. I went to the emergency room. A Neurologist saw damage the size of a grape. He said my left arm will be slightly numb for the rest of my life. He gave me 81mg. Asprin. After a few years I became unusually tired in the afternoon. On Jan 1, 2009, I had two strange dizzy spells and I almost passed out. I immediately got a Bounding heart beat. My eyes went more blurry just as if you abruptly shut off a light switch. My arm suddenly became number but I could still play the guitar well. Doctor gave me either Plavix first or Crestor first I forgot. Anyway I was on both not at the same time. Several times I felt like I was having mini strokes over a several months. My breathing became labored. They said at ER it was anxiety. My heart still Bounding for months and not an answer, my muscle tissue began to break down getting worse every day. I felt like I had Virus-like symptoms inside my body but without the usual symptoms of a virus. My low back muscles began to get weaker. My neck muscles began to get snap crackle and pop. I could hear them snap through a Motorcycle helmet with the engine noise of my Honda scooter. I sold it. My heart went into persistent Atrial Fibrillation. My left arm was numb, but the numbness was coming and going. I felt something strange happen in my brain and heart and my left arm became more numb but this time the numbness was permanent. I heard of the Mini Maze done by Dr. Randall Wolf and he did the Mini Maze Sept. 13th 2011. He took out my appendage where 90% strokes occur. The A-fib is gone and he took me off of Warfarin which I am glad. My virus symptoms went away but now I have Mono. My question is: My muscle weakness is still present and my left arm and left hand is permanently 20 % numb. It doesn't work as well but still works pretty well. I can still play the guitar but I get tired quickly. I believe from my own research that I had a brain stem stroke or a stroke did brain stem was damaged. The brain stem controls breathing. I believe my breathing mechanism is damaged. I still don't breath well and haven't for 2 yrs. Date Nov. 3, 2011. I took a turn for the worst last night. My heart is beating a little harder, about 100 bpm within the range but is uncomfortable and my left arm got number and weaker with noticably less movement. My body feels much weaker. It's beating a little harder. It feels uncomfortable. I easily see it beating in the mirror. It's beating fairly hard and a little too fast. It's hard to do daily tasks such as laundry. I feel like my body is heading for disaster like maybe a heart failure or something bad. I am 6'1 and now weigh 137 lbs. I keep losing pounds every week. Three years ago I weighed 168. I told my family doctor of my rapid weight loss and he told me I look Fine. What do you make of this? Can anyone figure this out? Most of my doctors don't care or think all of this is in my mind. They thought the Afib was in my mind until it was proved! Date right now is Nov. 4, 2011. I am frustrated. I want my life back. I am a very young looking 54 year old guy. Almost 55. If you still have "mono", any physical activity — other than the stroking of a guitar, can be quite tiring. Breathing can be difficult at any exercise level (walking, going up steps, etc.) when you have "mono".

If you began taking any kind of supplements (vitamins, energy drinks, etc.) you should let your doctor know – or, quit taking them and see if the symptoms you are having improve.

Which supplement should I take to grow taler?

Every day I drink two glasses of milk so I could get calcium and protein. When I drink the second glass I take one pill/ supplement called usana body rox (essentials vitamin & mineral supplement). I take this so I could grow taller but now I'm starting to wonder if it's bad for me? Like I mean it says an adult is suppose to take it 3 times a day but it does'nt say anything about a kid taking it. Does this mean it's bad for me? Can I still take it? As with many of these highly priced “memory enhancing” products, claims for Procera AVH are based on flimsy folkloric anecdotes from ancient Chinese medicine and extrapolation from incomplete and inconclusive scientific studies.

The main “memory enhancing” components appear to be Vinpocetine, Huperzine A and acetyl-l-carnitine

This is found in any normal diet (including vegetarian). The highest amounts are found in red meat and dairy products although legumes, nuts, cereals and many fruits contain significant amounts. The precursor carnitine is biosynthesised primarily in the liver and kidneys from the amino acids lysine or methionine. A normal diet should give more than enough of this material without the need for supplements.

This is an alkaloid extracted from the periwinkle plant, Vinca minor. In 2003 a clinical trial on "older adults with memory problems" produced inconclusive results. Since vinpocetine is related to other Vinca alkaloids, Vincristine and Vinblastine, that are powerful anti-cancer agents which impair formation of microtubules, there is suspicion that this drug may have similar effects and should be used with extreme caution.

Huperzine A
Huperzine A is an alkaloid found in the plant firmoss, Huperzia serrata. Although it has been used in China for centuries for the treatment of swelling, fever and blood disorders, there are no studies in the West showing memory enhancement. Clinical studies in China on early stage treatment of Alzheimer's disease show that huperzine A is comparably effective to the drugs currently on the market.

I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Procera AVH can “detoxify” your brain any better than a glass of clean water! In fact, taking chemicals that go directly to the brain will introduce "toxins" to the brain. This claim is plain silly!

My conclusion about Procera AVH is that this product may have a marginal effect on memory but, like you, I very much doubt the claims made by the manufacturers.

Any tips to help boost concentration?I’m currently working on a thesis for final year of uni but am finding it extremely difficult to concentrate…anybody any useful tips?? Thanks for feedback 🙂

[display_name id=”1″]Hey, buddy …… For memory loss and increasing your concentration and levels of focus try eating more foods rich in Vitamin B1 (thiamine) ie ~ brewer’s yeast, whole grain breads and cereals like brown rice, meat , organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds, legumes such as peas, beans and lentils and potatoes………. Sooo, ditch the white bread buddy if you eat any.

Organic with the nuts and seeds to avoid the nasty sulfites and other chemicals they use in the commercial varieties to “preserve” them that will upset sensitive bodies.

Cut out lollies, candies, sugary and packaged junky type foods like ice cream, cake and chocolate ….. Or at the very least cut right back on them as they will only rob you of your precious vitamins and nutrients and stress your system more….. Are you vegetarian or lactose intolerant?? It’s really important to supplement with a B complex if you are mate …. Take a multi B complex supplement including all the B’s ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best as a group……… Don’t take any of the B complex of vitamins individually but rather as a whole group unless specifically told to by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath.

The need for B1 (and the B complex) increases when we are stressed, during illness and surgery. B1 has beneficial effects on the nervous system and mental attitude and will also aid in digestion and keep nervous system, muscles and heart functioning normally………… The B complex of vitamins will help bolster your system so as you can better deal with the everyday little dramas life presents for us.

It is a water soluble complex and as such our bodies can neither produce or store them. Therefore we need to ingest them on a daily basis or suffer the side affects.
